ETSYCREST Goes to the Mother Ship (ETSY NYC)

By Jenn from CraftyStitches

What a great trip!  What can I say?  Don’t know where to start….  First let me start with a great THANK YOU to the ETSY NYC mother ship to allow us to prance in and visit the digs!  Especially Cheyne for hosting and entertaining us.  We met Brittney, Morgan, Kimm, Julie, and all the other names I missed… pls forgive me I didn’t get all the cards.
Linda (The Twisted Cow), Deb (a.w.e jewelry) and Jenn (CraftyStitches) visited “THE MOTHER SHIP” Etsy NYC.  We had a blast!

We talked, exchanged ideas and shared all our challenges as sellers on Etsy. A few things we really dug deep on are …

STATS yep.. (that was me; my thing) and the coming soon Credit Card feature.  We are excited about the new and upcoming changes at ETSY.  We are looking forward to more features as they roll out new stuff for us to dig in.

We saw the beautiful loft offices that they moved into in the DUMBO district under the Brooklyn bridge.  The office is large and occupies 4 floors.  No cubes here… just open desks and tables.  We were in the SECRET ROOM conference room where we chatted the most about our exciting stuff.  We talked a lot about our workshops and craft shows.  We completed a team interview video that they will show at a scheduled time soon.  So look out for it on the ETSY TEAM page.  We enjoyed lunch with the ETSY gang and left with our goody bags from ETSY.

We later went into the fashion and garment district looking for textiles and fun supplies.  Of course we had to visit MOOD and in deed it is WALL TO WALL; FLOOR TO FLOOR of supplies that would make you droooooolllll like a puppy.

Looking forward to our upcoming, exciting trips.  I hope many of you can join us next time.  Check out our pics at FLICKR

HelloEtsy - A gathering of inspiration!

This past Sunday, 9/18/2011, the CREST team volunteered for a wonderful event sponsored by the Smithsonian and HELLOETSY on a worldwide broadcast symposium of artist and how to make our artistry a business.

We learned so much learning from each other and had such a wonderful time. We got to meet great friends, experts and hear that others are sharing the same struggles and successes as an artist and crafter. It was part of a movement a DIY HANDMADE MOVEMENT... We all felt it!

Hello Etsy Update

Just got this from Katie:
Subject: Volunteers for Hello Etsy!
Hi all!
Thank you so much for volunteering for Hello Etsy DC! We are so happy to have you. Please plan to arrive to the Smithsonian American Art Museum at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 18. The museum is closed until 11:30 a.m., so please enter through the 8th and G Streets NW entrance (otherwise you'll be locked out!).
You can get to the museum by taking the metro to Gallery Place/Chinatown on the red, yellow, and green lines, or you can walk a couple of blocks from Metro Center if you prefer the blue and orange lines. Please check WMATA.COM to see the weekend track work (ugh!) before you leave home. You will receive your
"task list" when you arrive, letting you know how you'll be helping out during the day, and we will have lunch available! And, the after party is at Rocket Bar! If you can stay for a drink or two, there are 20% off coupons involved, so we hope you can all join us. See you Sunday!
Cheers,
Katie

**For all volunteers and featured artist please be sure to send me your full name and cell phone numbers. This is so that I have a record of who participated just in case the Smithsonian has a hiccup AND we need the cell phone number so that we can contact you in case of trouble or change on the day of.

Please send your contact info to
thetwistedcow@comcast.net as soon as possible.

Also, you do not need a ticket if you are volunteering or a featured artist.
t
hanks everyone!!
